Who We Are

What We Do

JH Outfitting Company is deeply rooted in the heart of Wyoming and the Jackson Hole valley. We offer a range of authentic horseback experiences with breathtaking views of Grand Teton National Park.

We are real Wyoming people dedicated to giving you a taste of real Wyoming.

True to the Wyoming spirit, we imbue everything we do with a sense of adventure and meticulous care. Our experienced guides tailor each ride to your preferences and ability, pairing you with a member of our well-trained herd for an unforgettable journey.

Our Horses

At JH Outfitting Company, we are proud to operate a business off the back of what we believe to be the most well-mannered herd of horses in the mountain west. We put immense amounts of time into training our horses to ensure our guests feel safe and enjoy themselves.

We have a large, diverse herd that allows us to pair a rider with a horse to fit any ability. We are able to accommodate anyone from someone's first time horseback to an accomplished rider.

How We Sit in the Saddle

We are proud to be a part of the Jackson Hole ecosystem and are committed to being responsible stewards of the land and good neighbors to our community––human and animal alike.

By partnering directly with local farmers, ranchers, and food sources, we support food access, sustainability, and security in our valley. Our success is intertwined with theirs, and we're always ready to lend a helping hand to our neighbors.

We take pride in playing an active role in conserving Wyoming's wild horse herds. Each year, we take a few untouched mustangs under our watch and train them to become members of our working herd. Ride with us astride a trusted member of our “dude” string, and witness firsthand as our seasoned staff puts miles on these colts.

Who’s Riding for the Brand

Jake Hutton

The last of a dying breed, Jake carries a torch for cowboys into the next generation. Jake grew up riding broncs as a teenager, went to work on fishing boats in Alaska as soon as he was old enough, and has traveled to the southern tip of the world and back in pursuit of a foreign cowboy culture and a second language. He is your head wrangler.

As much of the world as Jake has seen, cowboy culture and Wyoming are his forever home. He has a deep seated love for this way of life and strives to open that door for all who want to experience it

Owner

Sara McIntosh

Sara has been horseback long before she can remember, growing up swimming with her horse in the Shenandoah River. Her Mother is the of the Master of a Foxhunt in the Blue Ridge Mountains that dates back to the 1880's. It is safe to say horses are what Sara knows first and foremost. She is the true nuts and bolts of our operation. Sara is our first point of contact with many of our neighbors, establishing and maintaining our connections with local food sources in the greater Teton Valley. From communications to training burros, and everything in between, you can be sure Sara has graced a discerning eye over it, ensuring the highest standard of quality for the brand.

Coordinator

Head chef in Teton National Park

Jay Berrones

Head Chef

Out West the heart of any outfit worth its weight is in the kitchen, and the food they are putting out on plates. Having cooked for a number of the oldest ranches in this country, Jay understands what that responsibility holds, and the type of days those meals are expected to get a man through.

After growing up in Texas, Jay felt his cowboy nomad roots and took his western, home grown approach to cooking on the road and into some of the finest contemporary restaurants across this country and abroad. Jay has redefined the standard of what a Western meal is and has successfully blurred the lines between a fireside cowboy cookout and fine dining into something that doesn't fit inside the walls of any restaurant created thus far.

Monte Walsh

Monte Walsh has been riding for the brand for 12 years and has still never taken a day off! He never complains, rain, snow, or shine. We are lucky to have such a good hand around.

Alexandra Munger

2024 Resident Photographer

Alexandra grew up in the foothills of Virginia competing in English riding disciplines. Her love for photography began when she took a camera with her on a trip to Africa. Working as wrangler for the A-A dude ranch she fell in love with wide open spaces and western riding. She moved out to Wyoming and hasn't put her camera down since. We are looking forward to having her along for the ride this summer.

Olive

Head of Ranch Security

Peruvian by birth, Olive joined the crew during Jake and Sara’s travels South and instantly fit right in. She’s equally at home chasing grizzly bears through the willows as she is lying under the pickup for a belly rub, or smelling some flowers along the way on your Ride.
